Celebration of Women's Soccer

On March 18, 2022 at the Rose Bowl, AYSO Region 13 marked its 50th year of fielding girls' soccer teams with a Celebration of Women's Soccer — a kickoff for the Sisterhood of Soccer.

Entering its 50th year fielding girls' soccer teams, AYSO Region 13 held a Celebration of Women's Soccer on March 18, 2022 at the Rose Bowl.

The evening commemorated Region 13's role in creating the Brandi Chastain statue by the Rose Bowl, and served as a kickoff for Region 13's Sisterhood of Soccer — a group of volunteers dedicated to recruiting and mentoring female players, referees, and coaches.

First, Region 13's younger players took over the field with small-sided games. Then Cobi Jones — former US Men's National Team and LA Galaxy star, and current co-owner of LA women's pro soccer team Angel City FC — gave the kids some inspiration. Finally, fans were treated to an exhibition match featuring Region 13's G16U and G19U players. Scroll down for a recap.
